Common questions

Why is your pricing lower than commercial tools?

Because Firmlint uses open-source analyzers (cppcheck, clang-tidy) as the deterministic layer and adds the AI explanation and verification on top. We don't pay for a proprietary rules engine — we charge for the part we actually built.

Does the price include updates?

Yes. Your subscription covers updates to the Docker image, new rules, and improvements to the AI layer for the duration of the license.

What about tool qualification under ISO 26262?

Firmlint is a review aid, not a qualified tool. Reports include the evidence you need for a qualification argument — tool version, timestamps, SHA-256 of analyzed files — but the qualification itself remains your responsibility.

Can we pay per project instead of per seat?

For a single project with a small team, we can arrange a project license. Contact us with the details and we'll quote it.

What if we don't have Docker?

Docker is the only supported deployment method today. If your environment can't run Docker, tell us — we're evaluating native binaries and will prioritize based on demand.

What happens if the pilot fails?

You walk away. No further obligation, no payment. We agree the success criteria before the pilot starts so "success" and "failure" are both clear from day one.

Where does the AI run?

By default, locally via Ollama on your own workstation. Your source code never leaves your machine. If you prefer a cloud model, that's your choice — the tool supports both, but local is the default.
